Who We Are

Diagnosticians, Not Salespeople

AZ Energy Auditor exists for one reason: to tell Arizona homeowners and businesses the measured truth about why their bills are high — and what to do about it.

Most efficiency advice in Arizona is delivered by someone who wants to sell you something — a new AC, more insulation, new windows. The advice may even be right, but you can never be sure, because the person giving it profits from the fix. We built a different kind of company: an independent energy auditor with nothing to sell but the diagnosis.

AZ Energy Auditor performs instrument-based home and commercial energy audits across the state — blower-door testing, infrared thermal imaging, and duct leakage measurement — and delivers a prioritized report you own. Because we don't install the improvements, our recommendations aren't steered toward a product line. When the honest answer is a $900 duct-sealing job rather than a $6,000 new system, that's what the report says.

Our work is grounded in hot-climate building science: Climate Zone 2B envelope behavior, the reality of ducts running through 150°F attics, Manual J sizing, and the APS and SRP rebate programs that put real money back in Arizona pockets. When you book an audit, you get a diagnostician who measures for a living — not a lead-routing service.

How We Operate

The Standards Behind Every Audit

Four commitments that shape every test, report, and recommendation.

Measured, Not Estimated

Every finding comes from an instrument — a blower door, a duct blaster, a thermal camera — not a visual guess. If we can't measure it, we don't claim it.

Evidence You Can See

Your report includes thermal images of the actual problems in your actual home. There's no arguing with a picture of your ceiling leaking heat.

Independent by Design

We don't install insulation or HVAC, so nothing in your report is steered toward a product we happen to sell. The recommendations reflect your home's needs.

Rebates Without the Runaround

APS, SRP, and federal 25C documentation prepared as part of the audit, with honest guidance on what's actually available for your home this year.

What to Expect

Your Audit, Start to Finish

Every audit starts the same way: an auditor arrives with the full instrument kit and spends two to three hours actually testing your home. We run the blower door to measure envelope leakage, scan every room with the thermal camera, pressure-test the ducts, measure insulation depth and R-value, and review your HVAC sizing and utility rate plan. Nothing is guessed from the driveway.

Before we leave, we walk you through the biggest findings so you understand your home right away. The full written report follows shortly after — every issue ranked by cost, savings, and payback, with thermal images showing precisely where your envelope is failing, plus the documentation you need for APS, SRP, and federal incentives. Then it's your decision. No pressure, no product pitch, no follow-up sales calls — just the information you needed.

Arizona Quick Facts

The Numbers We Work Around

  • Phoenix is IECC Climate Zone 2B — hot-dry. Cooling can be half your annual electric bill, so envelope and duct performance dominate.
  • Unconditioned Arizona attics run 140–160°F in summer while outdoor air is 105–118°F — and most homes' ducts run through that heat.
  • Older Arizona homes commonly test at 20–30% duct leakage, meaning up to a third of cooled air never reaches a room.
  • Climate Zone 2B calls for roughly R-38 in the attic, with R-49 the modern target — many homes we assess fall well short.
  • Both APS and SRP tie their biggest efficiency rebates to a professional assessment — which is exactly what an audit provides.
  • A qualifying home energy audit is eligible for the federal 25C tax credit, historically up to $150, and it stacks with utility rebates.

Why It Matters

An Auditor With No Reason to Upsell You

Independence changes everything about the advice you get. We know which Arizona neighborhoods run SRP versus APS and what that means for your rebate. We know that a bonus room over a Chandler garage has three separate causes and that fixing only one wastes your money. We know that an efficient new AC can't fix a leaky envelope — and we'll tell you so before you spend on the wrong thing.

We also know what not to recommend: a bigger AC for a duct problem, new windows when air sealing would do more, or a solar system sized to power your home's current waste. Efficiency first, then generation, is almost always the cheaper path — and because we're not selling any of it, you can trust that's genuinely our advice.

If that's the kind of straight answer you want about your home, we'd like to earn the work. Start by booking an audit or browse our services to see how we approach your specific situation.
